Installing a dedicated server for Farming Simulator 2022

VPS and dedicated server2 min readUpdated Aug 28, 2026

This guide installs a Farming Simulator 22 dedicated server on your VibeGAMES Windows server.

Requirements: a Windows server with at least 4 CPU cores at 2.4 GHz, 2 GB RAM and 6 GB free SSD disk space, plus a public IPv4 address (every VibeGAMES server has one). You also need your own digital game license: the Steam version can NOT be used. A GPU or sound card is not required. Mods and DLCs can increase the resource requirements.

Buy a Digital License

  • Purchase the digital PC version of Farming Simulator 22 on the Farming Simulator website.
  • After the purchase, Giants sends you an email with a download link and your GameKey. You need this key for the download and for activation later, so keep the email.

Download the Game on Your Server

  • The file lands in your Downloads folder.

Install the Game

  • Double-click the downloaded file and run Setup.exe.
  • Read and accept the terms, choose the Standard installation (usually sufficient) and click Install. This can take a few minutes.

  • When the installation completes, confirm with Finish.

Activate the Game

  • Start Farming Simulator once via the desktop shortcut or the Start menu. Errors about a missing GPU can be ignored or closed with No or Cancel; the game only needs to start once so you can enter your GameKey.

Configure the Dedicated Server

  • Open dedicatedServer.xml in the installation folder, by default C:\Program Files (x86)\Farming Simulator 2022.
  • Set (or read out) the login name and password for the dedicated server's web interface. You can choose these freely.

Open the Ports at VibeGAMES

On a VibeGAMES server, ports are closed at the network edge until you open them.

  • To reach the web interface yourself, open your server's Whitelist tab in the dashboard and press Add IP to whitelist your own IP address. Whitelisted IPs get full access, including port 8080.
  • For your players, open the game port on the DDoS protection tab with Add filter (use the Custom option and the port configured for your FS22 server).

Start the Server

  • Run dedicatedServer.exe from the same folder as dedicatedServer.xml.

  • Open the web interface in your browser at https://SERVER-IP:8080 and log in with the credentials from dedicatedServer.xml.

Finished

The rest of the configuration happens in the self-explanatory web interface: pick a map, name your server and start it, all according to your personal wishes.
