How to Configure Your Assetto Corsa Server

Assetto Corsa2 min readUpdated Oct 22, 2026

An Assetto Corsa server is two files: server_cfg.ini with the track, the sessions and the rules, and entry_list.ini with the cars. The panel's Config Editor edits both in a form, and if you already build your servers in Content Manager, you can upload its files instead.

The Config Editor

  • Log in to your game panel and click your Assetto Corsa server.
  • Open Config Editor in the left menu. The tabs follow the file:
    • Server: name, password, admin password, max drivers, register to lobby, and the ports (managed by the panel, do not change them).
    • Track & cars: the track and its layout, and the entry list with one slot per car, including skin and ballast.
    • Sessions: booking, practice, qualifying and race, their lengths and whether drivers can join during them.
    • Driving rules: assists, damage, tyre wear and fuel rates, allowed tyres, pickup mode.
    • Weather & grip: the weather slots, temperatures and how the track grip evolves over the event.
    • Advanced: packet rates and the other network options. The defaults are right for nearly everyone.
    • Raw file: the ini itself, for the options the form does not cover.
  • Press Save changes in the bar at the bottom, then Restart now. The server reads the files on start.

Cars and Tracks by Folder Name

  • The editor refers to cars and tracks by their folder name, for example ks_ferrari_488_gt3 or ks_nurburgring with layout layout_gp_a. The names are the folders in content/cars and content/tracks, on the server and in every driver's game.
  • Community content has to be on the server before you can select it. See how to add custom cars and tracks.

Use a Content Manager Preset Instead

  • In Content Manager open Server and build the server the way you like: track, entry list, sessions, weather.
  • Save the preset. Content Manager writes server_cfg.ini and entry_list.ini to its preset folder; open it with the folder button.
  • Upload both files into the server's cfg folder with the file manager, replacing the existing ones. Keep the ports in server_cfg.ini as they were on the server, or restore them in the Config Editor afterwards; a wrong port means nobody can join.
  • Restart the server. The Config Editor shows the uploaded values and you can keep editing there.

Good to Know

  • Pit boxes limit the grid. A track has a fixed number of pits, and the entry list cannot have more cars than that. The editor warns when it does.
  • Max drivers has to be covered by car slots. Sixteen drivers need sixteen entries.
  • Booking is the old way of joining; nearly every server uses pickup mode, where drivers take any free slot.
  • Weather needs the ids AC knows (3_clear, 7_heavy_clouds, and so on). Sol and CSP weather works through the CSP extra options in the raw file, and only for drivers with CSP.

Finished

The server runs your track, cars and sessions. Set up sTracker if you want lap times and statistics for your league.
